Biography

In June of 2008, Stephen M. Pirris, MD, completed his sixth year of residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During the year, Dr. Pirris performed and assisted on surgical cases, evaluated many patients in the outpatient clinics and completed a rotation as the chief resident on the neuro-oncology service at UPMC Shadyside.

After receiving the Clinical Traveling Fellowship from the North American Spine Society, he traveled to several world renowned spine centers to learn their specialized techniques. He also performed studies in the Spine Biomechanics Research Laboratory under the direction of Boyle Cheng, PhD.

Dr. Pirris is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
